The Cavaliers superstar and his teammates returned to Cleveland Monday night for the second game of the season, where they will face the Knicks.
James had surgery for a sprained ankle last week, and his status for this game is unclear.
But it is unclear how he will play after having the ankle brace removed and then having to leave the arena because of it.
James did not return to practice Monday night, and there was no word on whether he is expected to play.
He also did not participate in team drills.
James has been out since Nov. 6 with a sprain in his left ankle.
The Cavs are currently 5-3 without him and will be playing without Kevin Love, who will miss at least the next two games due to an injury.
James is averaging 28.0 points on 50.2 percent shooting in the two games.
He scored 32 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Cavaliers’ win over the Miami Heat on Monday night.
The last time James was sidelined by an ankle injury was on Dec. 19, 2015, when he sprained the ankle in a loss to the Toronto Raptors.
